By carrying out some or all of the following list of positive actions you can put your business in a position to beat a recession and gain an advantage in the market.
- Refreshing your website - improve your website score in the search engines and you will generate more leads.
- Convert your leads into sales - spend a bit more time loooking at wher your sales enquiries come from and look at the process for converting them into sales.
- Don't cut the marketing budget - now is the time to sell your brand, through advertising, networking, online forums and even direct marketing.
- Raise your sales prices - the price your are paying for things has gone up in the last year so why should you not pass some of this on to your customers?
- Reduce purchase prices - whether you have a buying team or not, shop around, maybe even carry out a tendering process for the biggest purchases.
- Tighten your credit control - spend time getting tough with those customers who won't pay on time.
- Don't cut the training budget - carry on investing in staff through training, coaching and development.
- Incentivise your staff - make your staff feel important by introducing incentive schemes, competitions and team away days.
- Get some advise - you don't have to work out all this for yourself.
- Take time off and delegate - make sure you take some time out of the business to recharge your batteries.
